ICEBELISK was an ephemeral artwork at McCarren Park in Brooklyn, NY by Jeffrey Allen Price. This “Anti-Monument” was part of WET Festival, an exhibition curated by Elliot Lessing. ICEBELISK was unveiled at noon on August 28, 2010 and lasted less than 24 hours before being reduced to an evaporating puddle. At first, ICEBELISK was a clear 80″ tall glass-like obelisk before its frozen body began to melt under the hot summer sun. ICEBELISK remained upright for the duration of the day-long WET Festival event, even as it began cracking and shrinking dramatically. By noon the following day, all that remained was a small wet spot on the ground. More images can be found in the ICEBELISK Gallery and Elliot Lessing‘s FaceBook page.
